Chapter 7: Debt Elimination

Chapter 7 can be defined as total bankruptcy. It will eliminate all your debt. In most cases, you can keep your home and your car, as long as you are current in your payments.

Chapter 7 will stop wage garnishments, as well as those harassing phone calls from your creditors.

Chapter 13: Reorganization Plans

Chapter 13 consolidates your debt. Your house payments and car note will be made current. It will allow you to pay back your bills. There will be no interest, thereby allowing you to pay your debt in a five-year period. You only pay the principal.

Chapter 13 will stop wage garnishments, repossessions, home mortgage foreclosures, harassing phone calls from your creditors, and IRS penalties.
